Italy

Italy with kids we did once: Tuscany, by car from the south of France and at walking pace through Monaco (partly on the F1 circuit). An apartment in San Quirico in Collina, above the vineyards, modern and spacious, but without a garden, and we will not do that again with kids.

What worked with kids: Volterra and Certaldo Alto (with the little funicular), the Boboli Gardens in Florence, and Pisa, the kids' highlight. What did not: the centre of Florence and the Ponte Vecchio, too busy, and the low balconies of the apartment.
