The in-between

We came back.

Not because the journey was over,
but because we needed to breathe in familiar air again.

Home felt grounding in a way we hadn’t realised we were craving. Normal groceries. Familiar streets. Quiet evenings that didn’t require adjusting. For a moment, that steadiness was enough.

But staying still never really lasts long for us.

So we tried something else.

Moving without committing

Shorter trips. Leaving again, but gently. Knowing there was a return waiting.

We went away.
We came back.
We left again.

Each time with a little less pressure, a little more awareness.

Some of it worked beautifully. Some of it almost did.

There were moments that felt close to perfect, the right balance between movement and rest, between togetherness and space. And then there were moments where something still didn’t quite land.

Nothing was wrong.
But nothing was fully right either.

Not everything needs fixing. Some things need time.

When flexibility becomes the point

That’s when something quietly shifted.

Flexibility started to matter more than adventure. Not the kind of flexibility that chases every opportunity, but the kind that allows you to adjust without needing a reason.

We stopped asking ourselves how something looked and started paying attention to how it felt.

Leaving didn’t always mean going far. Coming back didn’t always mean stopping.

Circling, not arriving

This in-between season taught us how to move without rushing. How to explore without stretching ourselves thin. How to hold plans loosely, ready to reshape them if needed.

It felt like we were circling something. Testing edges. Finding a rhythm that almost fit.

Almost.

At the time, we didn’t know we were standing at the edge of another turning point. We only knew we were trying, carefully and honestly, to understand what kind of life actually worked for us.

What came next
wasn’t part of any plan.
